Matthew Kellway is an experienced leader, tireless volunteer and passionate advocate for our community and city.
Matthew and his wife Donna have deep roots in Ward 37, where they have lived for more than 20 years.
As a parent of three, Matthew believes in doing his part to support those activities that benefit all kids and the community at large. He has served as a daycare board member, Chair of St. John’s Parent Council, and has helped coach and manage a number of teams over the years, from Peanut Lacrosse in the Beach to House League and Select hockey at Ted Reeve Arena.
As the MP for Beaches-East York, Matthew served as the first ever urban affairs critic for the NDP, consulting extensively with mayors, councillors and Canadians, both locally and nationally, to create an agenda for prosperous, fair and sustainable cities.
Matthew chaired the Out of the Cold in the Beach program at St. Aidan’s Church. He recently kick-started a pilot program to enable participants to move into and remain in housing.
Matthew has been a long-time climate change activist, having co-founded the Toronto Energy Coalition and recently founding GreenEast.
Matthew is a collaborative problem solver and skilled negotiator with a profound commitment to making life better for all those in our community and for the city we are a part of.
