Knocking on doors over the past few months, there is a clear desire for a more responsive City Hall, and a Ward 37 Councillor who listens to their questions, needs, and challenges. People are looking for more ways to connect with City Hall, not fewer.
That's why Doug Ford's plan to cut our city wards to 25 would be terrible for democratic representation for our city, and why the plan was rejected when the boundaries were being examined.
A bad plan is a bad plan, but Doug Ford's hijacking of our city election in the middle of the campaign is an attack on Toronto. Changing the rules of the election in the middle of the campaign is the action of a bully.
And that's why I'm asking you to join us on Thursday, August 2 to speak to our neighbours and collect petition signatures to send with our MPP Rima Berns-McGown to Queen's Park. We will meet with MPP Rima Berns-McGown and Ward 35 Council Candidate Diane Dyson at 6:30 p.m. at the south west corner of Danforth and East Lynn, and go from there.
